Hi all currently i have a Brittany combi 80 (not the best i know this by bitter experience )

ive had quotes from three different Corgi reg fitters (price quote range was incredible i was astounded) and am now left with a choice of 2 boilers option A, a Worcester 28i Junior or option B, a Glowworm Flexicom 30
apparantly i will have a 5yr parts warranty on the glow worm and a 2 yr on the Worcester

the question is this boiler is to be fitted in the only available space for it and that happens to be a bedroom so i need to know which will be the best & quietest of the 2
suitable to a 2 bedroom house with 6 thermostat controlled radiators, a
water meter and with a multi headed shower not sure if this really makes a difference (seeing as it all works fine with the poor boiler i currently have) but British Gas seemed to think so, so just thought i better give the info
thanks for any advice its appreciated to help me make the right decision as i have no real experience in boilers or the workings of them

Both the boilers are good.

More important than the boiler is the quality of installation.

If I had the choice I would go for the Glowworm ;)

i wouldn't touch Glowworm - constantly going to PCB faults and leaking filling loops on these

Worcester are ok in my area tend to go to service rarely repair except the really old 240/280's

but Vaillant are the best in my opinion

its up to you really to decide if you want chalk or cheese

Get a quote for the Broag 39C combi. 5 year guarantee. Buy the outside weather temperature sensor. Better than Vaillant and W-B.

take your opinion on the broag as never had dealings with them but any of the the 3 would be 100% better than the Glowworm

now im really confused

Kevindgas glow worm are vailliant arent they?just the trading name?

i'm not surprised your confused
they are both owned by the same company but the build quality is very different!

several GW's use common PCB's and filling fittings which are not very good and don't seem to last very long

the Vaillants have completely different components and so far the PCB's have proved to be reliable (also a lot more features available to the installer) so they can be set to suit your house much more accurately

the filling loop is again very different being a 3 sided valve which is either hot water or filling loop directed not like GW's open hole air gap thing that always leaks why they still fit them is beyond me!

just to add to the confusion their own engineers have to work on both! even the vans have GW on 1 side and Vaillant on the other! engineers have to park the right way round just to get in to some properties!

lol omg its like a lil minefield ive walked into but now it becomes a lil clearer glow worm are the cheaply made version of Vaillant? so im starting to think the best option i currently have is the Worcester and apparently the quietest and more reliable? i must admit that 2 of the 3 quotes i had they had said a worcester would be the best option but not having had much experience in the field im just kinda obtaining more experienced ppls opinions the other quote said glow worm or Worcester but i think he has a contract with glow worm hence the 5 yr parts warranty but i always kinda wonder why companys offer parts warranty is it because they have confidence in their appliances or no confidence and just dont want lots of massive complaints ... and ive not even heard of the other boiler that has been mentioned on here either

I prefer vaillant around 6 years ago when glowworm cxi came out i was tempted as it has vaillant heat exchanger but when i was called to mend one i dropped down front to see PLASTIC & i hate PLASTIC boilers which is what you have already with your crappateaux

ummmm... but perhaps the ppl that designed them had some sort of plastic fetish!!
so by look of it i either go with the Worcester or get him to give me a quote on wot type of Vaillant boiler? baring in mind its only a 2 up 2 down smallish cottage type house i live in not a mansion and cheers for the help so far ppl much appreciated :)

Wouldn't touch either, ATAG or Vaillant for quality, Broag for economy, good but not built to ATAG or Vaillant quality.

Broag is superior to Vaillant in quality, control system and functionality. No contest.

As you don't fit any of them as per usual you know nothing. Broag is the poor cousin to the Vaillant, especially using old components.

Oh I forgot though, the pictures look better in the brochure  Idiot

What are you going on about??? The filling loop is the same as the ecotecs. The pcb is made by vaillant and the software has all the same options and behaves in exactly the same way as a vaillant.. You are confusing the flexicom with a CXI which is no longer manufactured. I suggest you go and have a look at some new glowworm boilers!! I think the flexicom is a good budget boiler, but the ultracom is much better. I hate WB, they are a joke to work on and the pcbs are no more reliable than your average budget boiler.
