If I was working on a lighting circuit, and the IR test came out at 0.8M, would I not be able to carry out the work on the circuit until it had been rectified? Also if that result came out on a periodic what code would it be?

Did you remove the neutral from the neutral bar?

Did you remove all lamps and control gear?

Any switches with neons, ELV transformers or dimmers still in the circuit?

Burglar alarm tapped off the lights?

Outside light with a damp problem?

Periodic, I'd code it as 3

You can't carry on working on that circuit, as the minimum required IR is 1.0MΩ for a 230V circuit, so you can't sign this circuit off as being compliant with BS7671 on your EIC / MEW

Its just a hypothetical, i couldnt find the answer in the books and im practising for 2391 later this year.

In that case, anything less than 2M ohms there is a possibility of a latent deferct and would require further investigation.
The book you need is Guidance Note 3

ligit to link neutral and line and test across cpc? hence no voltage appearing across equipment and accessories.?
