Hi,

I'm installing willow screening to an existing wall in the back garden. I have done some searching on the forum & fixed 2 roof batterns to the wall to fix the screen to. The question i have what type of staples should i be using and what is the ideal size? As it is out doors i am aware i should use galvanised staples but unsure of what size to use.

All help appreciated.

Many thanks

I used staples for my 1m high screening but found that the 2m stuff didn't hold up that well so in the end used screws and washers which did a much better job.

nicest way is to sandwich it between the battens, which also frames it in place.

Thanks Guys & i appreciate your help, but i was just thinking of using staples to sort of tack it up onto the battens. I have noticed that the screening has wire connecting at 100mm centres along the 2m length of willow. Will it be ok to staple on to the battens using this wire? If so what staples would you reccomend????

Cheers

i normally use staples from an air stapler. You should be fine with fencing staples (they look like little hoops with a point each end and are designed to be hammered in. they are also a bugger to use but do the job well. Normal staples will rust through in no time.

Cheers Thermo

I have just put the screening up using galvanised fencing staples (yes they are a pain to use) i put them up every 10cm or so on 2 battens, so hopefully that will be sufficient to keep it up ......... tonight will be a good test as it's really windy!!!!
