I want to tee in to an exisitng copper hot water pipe. Seems the easiest way to do this would be using plastic push fittings. However, I'm a bit confused as to whether you can use a plastic T fitting directly with copper piping, or whether you can only use the plastic T fitting with plastic pipe.

So what I'm asking is, can I do this:

Copper pipe > Plastic T > Copper pipe

or do I have to do this:

Copper pipe > plastic pipe > plastic T > Plastic pipe > Copper pipe

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ade

You can pushfit straight onto copper pipe.
Make sure you push the pipe all the way home. :D

thanks for the help. been doing some digging on the web and the only info there is relates to simply joining a copper pipe to a plastic one. Doesn't ever say whether you can just t straight in.

Right - I'm off to the DIY shops!

Thanks again.

don't forget you need pipe cutter and not hacksaw.

other than that make sure you remove any paint etc before fitting
