Replacement bath (large)now fitted and Twyfords QB mixer tap with shower outlet)fitted but flow is so slow it will take ages to fill - hot will be cold before full!

Previous mixer tap unknown make & quality (1/4 turn type) but have lasted at least 18 years produced good flow.

Cold is gravity fed from loft space with 2 m head, hot is gravity from hot tank with 1m head

Have used pushfit connectors to minimise any loss of flow through flexiconnectors.

Why does the outflow pipe appear to be considerably less than the 22mm inflow - is that correct?

Should i ditch the mixer and replace with single taps?

Any ideas please -

Many thanks

Roger

Yes fully open -Should add that new taps on sink, same make as bath, only 6ft up line are ok for pressure

I've just looked up the QB mixer on the Twyfords site: http://www.twyfordbathrooms.com/default.asp?path=1;50;86&SelectedProduct=1;26;27;45;146;84758

This is a high-pressure tap with a minimum recommended pressure of 1 bar.

Two metres head is roughly 0.2 bar, hence the low flow - the tap is unsuitable for your system.

Possible solutions are to pump the supplies to the bath, or replace the tap with one suitable for the vented hot water system.

MAny thanks - would the pumps need to be fitted between the sink and bath

I think replacing the taps for low pressure will be the answer - from a quick look most taps appear to be for at least 1 bar - ther e are very few specifically down to .2bar. Do you have a recommended manufacturer

I can't recommend a manufacturer to you, perhaps one of the pro's here can help you on that one. I've heard that Bristan are good but that is secondhand information!

If you were to use a pump, this would be a shower pump installed in the usual way, and correctly sized for the load. You'd get a power-shower that way too.

If you went for a different tap, you wouldn't need to install a pump, but with 2 metres head the shower may not be much more than a dribble anyway - did you have a shower before, or are you adding it?

Shower is a separate installation and is powered by its own pump but will now bw impossible to add to.

Best bet is looking like changinng taps - Ill look at bristan grohe twyfords and find a suitable low pressure tap

Many thanks
