MS WORD Snap to grid, not working properly

I'm using Word 2002.
Drawing:
SOmetimes it snaps to the right place, then it goes off, snapping to an invisible grid slightly off the one you can see. Sometimes starts doing this during an editing session.
Can't find anything on the net now, though I know I did in the past.

ANy ideas?

I'll post the obvious - sorry ...can you get Office 2003?

Also (sorry - don't know how experienced you are? ) - the snap function works using the Alt key shortcut...
Does this override any operation you are performing?

I'm sure you can adjust the grid size...but can't check on this PC, here.
If you alter this to a smaller value, does that help? Or even just messing with those settings a few times to see if it corrects itself?

Finally - Are you able to do a fresh install?
I know it doesn't always work!
