maybe its the choice of earrings?

Perhaps you should try dangly ones or those big huge hoops?

i just think this whole subject smacks of superiority.

Cry nay! 'tis you who feels inferior.

Some parents have even less social awareness then their children. I don't see them as inferior, but somewhat terrifying. To even imagine that their son or daughter would look any 'better' with a pierced ear is bewildering.

I feel for their children i really do.

if they're not bumming or bullying there children i say crack on. thery could do allot worse than a piercing.

Same old people peteftw :D
Calculating 'new' people now .....tap tap tap tap tap tap... = Not many :D

PS. I wouldnt pierce my childs ear ....but hey .....What you do, or say, is up to you ....

so what?

whats the difference in piercing a childs ear and dressing them in a way that you dont like?

The difference to me is not whether it is permanent or not, but an issue of consent.

You cannot ask the baby/child if they want their ears pierced and even if you could, they would be too young to understand the implications. These are chiefly the possibilty of infection & the discomfort, but also the long-term implications.

Therefore, the child has the piercing because the parents wants it and that is just plain wrong.

If a parent must adorn a baby or child with earrings, why not use the clip-on type?

Moving on from earrings, how many folk here would "force" their children to eat what they eat (ie if you're vegan, so are your kids) or to worship in the same place you do?

And if you do, is that acceptable?

My 2 girls wanted their ears pierced for years but i made them wait until they were 14

Ear Piercing hurts...

If you are happy to hurt a child, you will probably have its ear(s) pierced. That makes you a child abuser.

As the NSPCC say, "Child abuse (cruelty) must stop, full stop."

Yes, three, one of each. :)

But before you ask, no I never ever hurt them as babies, yes I slapped them as children but doubt any slap used hurt as much as a pierced ear, and no slap ever drew blood, which ear piercing does every time.

Yes, three, one of each.

Eh?

Smacking hurts a child, and I have never smacked my children personally. You seem to think that a fully grown man can hit his children as acceptable (as it didnt draw blood). Breaking a limb and causing brusing (sic) is obviously acceptible aswell, so long as no 'blood was spilt'.

Your no better than a bully to think you can strike a child, however mildy you do it.

ps EDIT... I had 5 earings as a child, 4 in one ear and one in the other. My grandmother did them. They are long gone with no holes and not one ever bled! I cant say its ever really caused a psycological problem with me :D
