Good quality MK sockets provide individual switching of each outlet with plenty of space for plug top power supplies.

And one "main" switch to turn all off if needed.

Following a fortunate visit to a car boot sale, the expenditure of £6 and a day's work, I have "cobbled together" the result shown.
Please can I have Breezer's approval or further comments!
Even sad lonely old gits can have a laugh.

Have you allowed for future expansion? You have twelve items now but who says that won't go up? An extra four outlets wouldn't be too many.

I'm busy setting up a computer desk right now and I'm doing more or less what hairyben has suggested:

-- screw a couple of 6 way extensions to the back of the desk itself --

Cut their leads to length and connect them into a junction box of adequate size, along with a length of 13 amp rated flex that you plug into the wall.

You might not need the switches but you do need the space. Some extension leads have their sockets so close together that two wall warts will not fit side by side.

Take a ruler when you go shopping and measure the distance between adjacent sockets. Look for a spacing of at least 2.125" or, better still, 2.25".

The kind with slots in the back, designed to hang on protruding screw heads, are not as easy to fix as those with screw holes going right through.

Since this thread started I too have needed to find a suitable sulution to plugging in 8 x WALL-WART chargers for a specific project.

units to be really good (62mm socket centres) and reasonably priced too. however there is a switched version available (same make) from stores such as Machine Mart which has even better spacing.

I know that the loads are typically pretty low, but 12 outlets on one FCU?

If nothing else isn't that a tad inflexible?

Also, I think you might find the vertical separation insufficient.
