I'm not a pro but I would cut it by any means, leaving about 2 or 3mm over, and then finish it back with a plane.

Watch out though, you should really take even amounts off top and bottom to avoid weakening the joints - I think 2cm should be OK to take all off the bottom but you need to check.

Cheers,

generally the bottom stile of a door is wider than the top to allow for such an adjustment. i would use a circular saw and a straight edge clamped on. Make sure you leave the cut generous and then plane it to get it smooth and exactly level.
I trust when you say its a wooden door, you mean a solid one. If its an internal boarded door then you will have to top and bottom it as the battens inside are generally only 50mm thick

That's exactly why I bought solid doors, 'cos I didn't know if I could get away with chopping the ends of hollow doors

Does the same apply if you need to reduce the width of a wooden front door?

yes thats assuming you are talking about simmilar sizes
but in general you check the frame for square [hold the door up against it]cos if you just measure top to bottom and cut and its out of square you finish up with further work and a triangular gap some where

would also avoid jigsaws on doors unless you know your jigsaw well and you know it dosnt wonder off line with a sharp blade
by this i mean you follow the line but the blade goes off to the side and at an angle

try it on a 45mm thick piece off wood first to see
