Good idea, a gay pride Olympics, will write to Tatchell immediately.

Peter Tatchell, of the lesbian gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) human rights group, OutRage, and a patron of Pride London, condemned this year's slogan "Come and Play" as "totally anodyne" and accused the LGBT community of "huge apathy and complacency".

He said: "I'm shocked that Pride London has hardly mentioned the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots on its website or in its magazine. Most of the content is about entertainment and partying. To ignore and downplay this important anniversary is an insult to the veterans who began our momentous fight for freedom."

I'm old enough to remember 1969 but it was forty years ago! There is now at least one generation - and possibly two - who cannot conceive of a time when homosexuals were openly persecuted. You can teach them the history of it but they still won't understand why.   This is a good thing.

When was the last time you saw women celebrating the day they got the vote? There comes a point when you stop celebrating an ancient victory. Let them have their party and, instead, celebrate the fact that sex is fun. :p :p :p In time, even this will fizzle out. We heteros didn't have it all our own way either but there is, as far as I'm aware, no National Free Love day!
