soldering problem

back to the subject! HAha

Yes, i've been using loads of flux and no, i can't move the joint away and re-install it due to it's position. My blow torch is big enough (why would anyone waste the gas and point their blowtorch unlit, blowing gas on the joint?)

I'll give it another go tomorrow.

cheers to those who gave sensible suggestions

insommnia rules..

oki only 1 reason the solder wont run around a fitting is that there is still some water or steam laying in the pipework. Now you have several choices you either cut into the pipe further up and put in a endfeed coupling to drain the section to allow you to solder it. You can make the coupling a slip by filing it out with a roundfile. make sure the pipe is clean, wirewool or carbide stripwill do and use plenty of everflux ( best flux in the world). there is a little breadtrick if you have a small amount of water running back that does work.

cheers for suggestions.

When i first looked at where the join is i didn't think i'd be able to get my cutter in there but looking at it again i reckon i'll be able to make a cut close to the join then put an end feed coupler on there after i repair the leaking joint to make sure there's no water in the pipe.

I'll let you know how it goes!

So, you don't need any more s odder anymore! Also, love the way he overheated it and let the s odder drip out.

Anyway, as we all know, a roll of s odder is just so expensive

Back to the op's problem - there's still water in there. Solution - cut the pipe 1m away in the other direction and deal with this problem section well away from the existing pipes

In the video, he says 'fancy new pre-soldered/s oddered fittings'. Does this mean that solder/s odder ring fittings have only just arrived in The States??

Leak..................................................... Done!!!!!!

i tried the read trick but when i started heating the pipe up it spat out everywhere!

i managed to heat the pipe up just enough for the solder to run, only just though!

cheers for the help
