AGA - the environment debate

All Agas , along with their owners, should be put in a hole and concreted over.

That's been around around for months. If you are going to single out a group to pillory, why not those with power showers? swimming pools? underfloor heating when they're out all day? horse owners? dog owners? those who flush toilets with drinking water?

Get back to the bottle.

I service oil AGAs too,

but I don't have my head in the sand.

I look after a handful of flued ranges, and none of my custards are under any dillusion that these things are anything other than inefficient and wasteful. but they've got money and "it looks nice" :D

More and more people are starting to doubt the whole CO2 malarkey anyway as it is finally seeping through that there is very little evidence that the climate change is anthropogenic.

and even if you gave a **** whether or not climate change is anthropogenic or not it makes little difference.

if there is going to be an energy cluster f u c k it will happen no matter what individuals, groups or governments try to do to stop it. if oil ceases to be a viable commodity then all hell will break loose. the only thing you can do is be prepared to live in the dark ages.

The end of the economy due to energy shortage has been predicted more times than you can imagine, it makes good reading for economists that want their name published. In reality the market adepts readily by finding new ways of obtaining fuel, and developing new energy sources.

How many times was it said the empire would go back to the dark ages because coal would run out in 18-something? And we are still using the grubby stuff.

The other day a TV documentary stated that the UK produced more oil per day than Kuwait, that production was high at the moment and that we had at least 40 years left of KNOWN supplies under the north sea!
Why am I paying £1.05 per litre of diesel and next year am going to pay a massive CO2 tax for flying away on holiday?

(It couldn't be a method of taxing us that we wouldn't dare complain about for fear of being called destroyers of the world would it?)

What a load of old toss. An AGA will last probably well over a 100 years if serviced. A modern oven will perhaps last about 10 if you're lucky. So a modern oven has to consume less than 10% of an AGA, when factoring in R&D manufacture / distribution service and repair. Plus adding in boiler costs blah blah etc.

Like for like cost comparisons I'm all for, but this kind of bilge

P.S. I have an ESSE. ;)

You missed out 4x4 owners BTW.

oh dear then im stuff then i have around 2000+ aga/rayburn customers drive a 4x4 and also have an aga myself
