I have a Vokera 14e which when I turn on I can hear the fan a pump running. The fan and pump remain running but the boiler will not fire up.Pressure on boiler reading below .5bar.I had this problem before on a different boiler and what I used to do was turn open a valve in the hot press to top-up the system to around 1.5bar on the boiler and the boiler would then fire up. The trouble here is I can't find a valve to the system that I can open to allow more water into the system or I can't find a fill point to top up system so as to ignite boiler. Is there another option to fill system. I did have an engineer out before to restart my boiler. He played with something in the boiler and it started up straight away. I can't get him on the phone now to get him back in. Is it possible he may have done something with the expansion vessel to start the boiler up. There is a bit of a kink in the steel braided hose but doesn't look bad enough to block it from keeping the system pressurised[/quote]

are you sure he didnt just reset an overheat? at a low water pressure it has more chance of tripping a stat.

you will have to find the fill loop if you are going to have any chance of sorting it yourself. under the sink? under a hatch in the floor?

I've no idea what he did as I wasn't there to see. Is this overheat stat the reset button on the front panel or is it in the boiler. I pressed the reset button on the front panel for a few seconds but to no avail.Could you tell me if there is such thing as a sealed system that is able to top itself up when the pressure drops. Somebody mentioned this to me when I said I could not find a filling loop.
Thanks for your help.

i know post is old but as vokera was fairly standard fit in ireland in the 10 years i think it might help to reply anyways

id imagine your system isnt mains fed but attic fed

pressure will only be 0.5 bar

also i guess no filling loop is fitted

post a picture of pipework in hotpress

is their a red gate valve connected to attic tank below it a non returing valve and above it an air pressure valve

if yes the gatevalve is how you top up system just turn it a little to relese some water and then tigthen once boiler fired up the pressure gauge on vokera will hover around 1.5 bar

other problems if this fails are ignition swith which is fairly flakey

if all else fails ring vokera.ie in kilkenny and get their repair guy out, they charge 189 but this covers everything i.e labour plus any parts

just got me a new heat exchanger and pcb board and ignition switch this way

this would be gate valve
