From my garage ring main I want to add two double sockets in the workshop next door. How can I do this with a single cable?

Ideally extend the ring (two cables)

If using a single cable, assuming 2.5mm and 32 A opd then you need to fuse down with an FCU (13A) for more than one socket.

This work is notifiable (if remote from the house)

Obviously with the two extra sockets as load from the FCU. This method clearly limits your draw on the two doubles to 13A.

Or, run a single cable from one existing socket to the new one, then again from a second existing socket to a second new one. If that is possible, you won't need a 13A fcu and the loads won't be limited to 13A.

if you're gonna do that, then take the link out between the 2 sockets and put one between the new ones.. make it part of the ring..

any specific reason it has to be with 1 cable?

Is it really a ring in the garage, or is it a radial. From where are the sockets fed?[/quote]

It will be a ring main( havn't done it yet). I'm working backwards feeding cable through conduit to the workshop 3 metres away and I want two double sockets (radio and maybe a small bench grinder).
