electric shower - cold water won't stop running out of it!

Hi
Had a shower and turned it off as usual - except this time the cold water just kept running out! Turned the power to shower off on the emergency switch and on the fuse box but still the water ran. So turned the cold water to the bathroom off.

Any ideas about how to go about fixing and what I should expect to pay a electrician/plumber to fix this. The electric shower is about 6 years old.

Some showers have an emergency disk which will blow if pressure gets too high to avoid damaging the main parts of shower. Look in your instruction book and see if yours has one.

Sounds like the water on/off solenoid is U/S

If it keeps running out the shower head then it is possible the water inlet solenoid has failed open. Relatively easy to replace depending on the make / model.

If the water is coming out the bottom of the shower unit then it is likely to be a popped pressure release valve as Eric says.
