Can anyone help me please? I, (very stupidly) installed "Blubster" so I could start to download music as I havnt done this before and has a friend who downloads from this site all the time. I successfully installed it but unfortunately have had pop ups flashing up all the time since. I uninstalled Blubster and knocked my pop up security from medium level to high. It hasnt made any difference. My computer doesnt seem to be working quite as smoothly either. Im really desperate for any help thanks.

I have Windows Vista and McAfee Security.

Couple of ways to try and sort out the popups.

Download & install Revo Uninstaller.

For Revo to complete an uninstall including registry and program clean, the program to be removed must be installed, so download Blubster again and install it.

Then run Revo and click on Blubster in the open window and click Uninstall on the top toolbar.
Once uninstalled, Revo checks for registry entries and lists them. Tick only the entries in BOLD type and select delete.
If there are any program files it will find them, select 'All' and click delete.

That should have removed all traces of it.
Keep Revo installed for future use because it is better than using the Add/Remove that Windows offers.

Another alternative to try is a System Restore to the day before you downloaded Blubster.
Any software updates, eg. Windows, antivirus etc. that you have downloaded since that date will have to be downloaded again.

I did as you instructed and restored my settings and. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
NOOOOOOOOOOO MORRRRRRRE POP UPS! Thankyou so so much! X :p

Feather,
Pleased to hear that it was sorted by doing a system restore.

The thing to do now is remove all restore points so that if you ever have to do a SR for any reason, you do not go back to a point when the Blubster was installed.

If your computer is now working fine then follow these instructions to purge all the restore points:

Purging System Restore

To remove all SR Points thus removing any contaminated ones:

In XP:
Start -> Control Panel -> Performance & Maint. -> System -> System Restore tab
Tick Turn Off System Restore -> Apply -> OK. Then reboot your computer.

Follow the instructions above but this time untick the Turn Off SR box. No need to reboot this time.

Then set a new Restore Point:
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore -> Create a restore point.
Give it a name and click Next.

In Vista:
Follow these instructions.
Then set a new restore point by following these instructions

Hi Dave.

Thanks again for your info. Ive just followed the instructions word for word and feel a little more protected.

You dont know of any free download sites that are safe to use do you? Never going near Blubster ever again

You could look at Utorrent.

There is an intertesting article about File Sharing in the lates issue of Computeractive (issue 300 out 20th August), may be of interest to you.

another thing to try is to download google toolbar which hasa built in pop up blocker. It isn't a 100% foolproof but is pretty good. :)

A Good suggestion, Sue but it is only available in the IE Google Toolbar.
There isn't a blocker in the toolbar for firefox.
