ITV & C4 Reception problems.

Hi all,

Progressively over the last few months I have reception problems receiving ITV and Channel 4, but can receive BBC and ITV 2+1 OK. Sometimes there is minor interference and sometimes the signal is so scrambled the screen is a mess, or just blank, with a note saying 'No' or 'Bad signal'. The problem doesn't seem to be weather related and I can get the channels OK with an old TV,,, so problem is just with LCD TV. I live in Holloway, North London. Any suggestions for a remedy..? Would a signal booster help..?

i used to get the same problems with the same channels.and bought a signal booster i still on the odd occasion get problems but not as much.make sure you look at the boosting strength.if not have you got a digital aerial fitted.or call up aerial fitter your aerial might be faulty or broke due to the wind. simon the builder

Might be that the signal doesn't get amplified as much in your new LCD, might be worth trying an aerial AMP, I do remember when I lived in Camden that without the aerial AMP my LCD was pretty damned poor.

You should be able to pick up one that just goes between your wall socket and LCD and plugs into the mains from Maplin or any of the Large Tesco Superstores.

Failing that the are hundreds to be had online !!

If the reception is getting gradually worse then wouldn't that point towards something like aerial alignment or corrosion of the signal connectors like Simon said?

I have the same problem with both ITV and C4, and have found out that I'm not in a fully digital coverage area, check out http://www.freeview.co.uk/availability
I'm informed that i won't receive full coverage until the digital switch over.
