Hey guys. I have a Smeg dishwasher, not too sure which model, lost the manuel but I have a few pictures.
When I turn it on it automatically starts making a constant humming sound like it does when you're washing the dishes, but nothing is actually happening, no water or anything. Here's the picture.

The lights shown on in the picture are constantly on but the green one flashes.

The cap on the right. When opend it's filled with water with a sewage smell. Is that suppose to be there?

Another thing worth mentioning is that when I pour water in it and turn it on, it, the dishwasher, does drain.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

sounds like the anti flood device has been activated
turn it off
then tip it back and see if any water comes out the base
if so then there is a leak which will need to be fixed

Thanks but any other suggestions?

We have the exact same problem with our Bosch. What you have described is the drain pump is running continuouslywhich indicates the anti-flood device has been activated.

If you remove the machine and take the sides of to look in the base, or just remove and tip it side to side or front and back you will find water coming out of the base. When water leaks it collects into the base and activates a float switch. This in turn shuts of the incoming water inlet and turns on the drain pump so it runs continuously. Once you remove the water and reset the float switch the machine will work till water collects in the base again. You need to find out where it is leaking from.

Thanks. Any advice on how to remove the water? Don't really want to chance sucking it out from a straw...

Our BOSCH has a panel at the bottom at the front of the machine that can be removed. See if your has a similar panel at the front or back.
