Hi

I'm installing a single stainless steel sink in our utility room.

It came with a stainless basket-type waste. When I tried to fit a standard 40mm P-trap to this it does not seem to want to fit. The bit of the p-trap pipe that should go inside the waste fitting before the threaded part can engage does not fit inside. So I can't even tell at the moment whether the thread on the trap is correct for the waste outlet or not.

I am also fitting a Franke 1.5 sink in my new kitchen which came with a Lira 2 waste kit. This waste pipe from this does fit my utility sink easily.

So have I bought the wrong trap? Are there special traps for basket style wastes or have I got some strange foreign stuff here (courtesy of e-bay)?

there are adaptors to fit your waste (its probably european) but its easier to buy anothet basket strainer, they cost about a fiver than try and source the adaptors .
