awseome, we've been talking about the wrong boiler!

try the microswitch. Often replace the whole valve on these cos there's a few points of failure. part no.011289

Agree with you that its sometimes better to change whole valve.
£5 TO £85 in price difference is the bug bear though

Thanks for the replys again guys and accept my apologies for my delayed response, i have for once genuine high temp and hallucination inducing flu! A worthy upgrade from the man flu i usually get.

Anyhoo -

Yes it is and yes it it does, arm stays down, boiler does not ignite - try a new switch?

Thank You

it can be done in situ. 2 mins. I'm assuming the how light is going off/on or just off during demand?

Okay, thought i'd update

Switch arrived and fitted - easily as you'd said.

Tried HW, still wasn't working, it was as if the white plastic arm wasn't coming down far enough. Noticed a little screw above the switch, backed it of and i could rotate the switch. Spent some time setting it and now it works fine - not a single problem, have i done right in adjusting this screw or does it indicate another problem looming?

Thanks

CD

you can adjust it yes thats fine. However it often indicates lazy operation of the DV. This is why I usually replace the whole valve! You should be fine for now, but keep an eye on it. any more problems and I suggest replacing the whole thing.
