this cant be right

I can see both points of view here...the dealer was trying to change your brake fluid, but the nipple wouldn't come undone and sheared off...thats happened to us all - at least he admitted it! It will be nigh on impossible to get the old nipple out - they are thin and soft. So - what to do? If you don't intend to keep the car for too long then forget about it....although its recommended to change the brake fluid every couple of years I'm sure it will last a lot longer safely. An exchange calliper courtesy of the motor factors should be around £75.
I'm not on anyone's side here particularly - its just one of those occurrences which is unavoidable at times. John :)

well my wife went to pick the car up from the garage today and did a bit more shouting. she asked for one reciept for the service and one for the brakes that got damaged to present to trading standards and told them they were liable under the supply of goods and services act 1982, but we would pay for the parts and labour and take this further with the local trading standards, the manager was called to sort this out and to our surprise our bill came down from the original quote of £200 to £10. how do they sleep at night :eek:
 
you just know they will add the difference to everyone else's bill to recoup it
