I recently got an epson printer which until lately has been ok.It ran out of ink so we got refills and since then the print outs have been dull with loads of ugly lines through the whole pictures.I've realigned it but in the epson booklet it recommends to use only epson ink.Can anyone tell me if this could be the problem..or could the printer be at fault?

Many thanks Lloyd

Have you ran its self cleaning? Epison will always recommend their own ink thats where they make their money.

your print heads need cleaning. open a document and select print. this should then open a box with some tabs at the top and one of them will say maintenance. click this then select nozzle check. print off the test sheet and see how the test lines look, there should be no broken lines. if there are broken lines run the head cleaning cycle then test it again repeat as necessary. did you buy more cartridges as you may be needing them.

Despite what peeps may say on here, some printers will prefer manufacturers inks and others will not be too fussy.
