Just painted the outside of the windows of the hosue - then has started to rain - cant believe it

(the forecast said my area should be rainfree - in case anyone says why not check the forecast)

used outdoor gloss paint (not a particular waterproof / all weather variety though, unfortunately, says 16 - 24 housr drying time)

resealed the frame of the double glazing and paint all around it - then started to rain 3 hours after i finished - am i completed screwed?

the window ledges that i painted seemed to have taken the brunt of it and has a rippled effect where the rain has hit it. I smoothed these with my hand - silly as it sounds - but it seems to have smoothed things nicely.

so what is the verdict? - do i have to do the whole lot again, Or are the upper parts of the rame at least likely to be ok as they are less exposed?

Thanks

Andrew

you will just have to wait till it drys and stops raining and see what it looks like and go from there.

thanks for that

i can cope if it looks a looks a bit splattered but what im most concerned about is making sure that the water cant get into the wooden frames a round the double glazing.

Is the painting likely to be water tight or could the rain have penetrated the painting do you think?

im less worried about the rain disturbing the cosmetic features of the painting

rub down and give it another gloss  2 gloss is a recognised system for outside - unless your paint manufacturer specifically un recommends  it .

ok guys, thank you very much for the tips. I will give it another coat next weekend.

Thank you
