I'm not sure if this is in the correct forum, it seemed the best one for the subject!

I am building a brick barbie and I want to cast a slab over the top of it. I'll then build another few coarses of brickwork to take the grill etc. I really need to know how to go about it. I know I need to build a wooden frame to cast the slab into, but I need to know exactly what I need to with regards to concrete mix etc. What ratio of cement/sharp sand/balast to use, what king of re-bar to use inside, if any etc. The approximate dimensions it needs to be is 600mm x 1600mm and it probably needs to be about 80mm thick.

Thanks in advance!

Here's a pic of the base I want to cast it onto:

Could you use a couple of paving slabs cut down to fit ?

If not you will need to build a frame using some

2x2 and shutter ply.

make or aquire a steel mesh using some 10 mm bar.

grease the formwork and cast usings a 4;2;1 mix being sand, gravel and cement.

leave to set for a couple of days, strip the form and lift into place.

Personaly though i would use a couple a couple of 3x2 or 2x2 slabs cut to fit.
