Im a self employed gas fitter and i am going to relocate to london. can any gas fitters/plumbers on this site advise me on which areas would be best to set up in, traffic, amount of work,prices,advertising....

I would be mainley carrying out service and repair work

any info would be very much appreciated

You wont get very far here, if you cant repair a simple Combi 80.

I'd avoid London.... I watched that documentary on ordinary life in London on Christmas day, they're all as miserable as sin, most of them are broke and unhappy, half of them sort out family problems with their fists (They all seem to be interbred) and everyone hated the landlord of their local pub, poor old duffer even got whacked on the back of the head with a bust of Queen Victoria..... I'll stay in the grim North thanks!

It doesn't change the answer though.
ARE ALL PARTS OF LONDON CRAZY FOR TRAFFIC AND PARKING
Yes plus you get fines if caught for 2 seconds (I was) in a yellow box, or cutting across a bus lane, or hesitating on a double red line tp prod your Sat Nav.
Train from my local stn to Waterloo should be 20 minutes so I though I'd try public transport for a CP12 in Oxford Street.
Total time taken, with 1/2 hour on site, 4 hours.

Independents in London are at a severe disadvantage. You have to be able to do several CP12s etc, at a time.

And don't trust letting agents. They'll get your bill run up to a big number, then make up an excuse not to pay you, maybe for a couple of months' work.

One of my ex-trainees pulled into a bus layby in Harrow to answer the phone and was seen on the CCTV and fined £80 !

Another trainee from outside London bought his pay and display ticket but parked in a residents bay so got the penalty!

It may take longer but its certainly less stress to use public transport to do CP12s and boiler repairs.
