Incidentally, some recent German research showed that the extra consumption resulting from the installation of a microwave in a kitchen with an electric cooker is MINUS 236kWh a year.

I bought one of those plug in meters. However since there is no information on what a fridge or freezer of a set size should use over a set time all it does is tell me when they are getting worse it does not tell me if they need replacing now.

I wrote to energy saving trust who one would have thought would have published information like that but is seems all the energy saving is just lip service and no real effort is being made.

Like a lot of government things just generate figures. Some real classics like if we call a HND a Foundation Degree then the figures will show how many more people are getting degrees!
