My first post here. Hope you guys (and gals) can help me out.

I put together a kitchen two years ago using laminated work surfaces from Magnet. The interior is wood fibre with a plastic laminate. There is a corner where two join to make an L shape close to the sink. Some water must have got in because I can see one of the surfaces bulging very slightly.

Is it possible to fix this bulge, say with compression?

What's the best way to seal up the minuscule gap?

Thanks in advance for your help. Hope you are having a good new year and aren't snowed in anywhere. :D

Hi there,

You could possibly use some colourfill or colorfill most mainstream chains carry it and is usually used to fill the gaps in joins. Depending on the damage you could potentially use it, slap it on and let it dry and then use some nail polish remover to remove the excess.

Hope this helps.

I seem to have done it!

Well, half of it. I figured the trick was to dry it out and apply pressure at the same time. So a couple of G-Clamps (with a strip of flat wood to protect the surface) and a fan heater overnight, and this morning it was perfectly flat!

Now I just need to seal it. I'll use transparent Sikaflex, a marine sealant - that way if there's ever a thunderstorm, or a force 9 gale in the kitchen it'll hold fast.

:D
