Disclaimer: Please forgive me if I don't use the proper terms. If you correct me, I will be grateful. :) Also, I think I read all the information on posting pictures. Mine are hotlinked from my photobucket account. If they are too large or I have broken any rules, please let me know and I will fix it as soon as I can.

I am remodeling a bathroom and want to put bead-board up around the bottom half-ish part of the wall.

I really want to use a wider bead board (2 3/8 inches bead to bead), but while the narrow ones (1 1/4 - 1 5/8 inches bead to bead) are made from real wood (usually poplar), I can only find the wider ones in MDF. :( Is there a way to prep or seal MDF so that can use it in my bathroom?

You mention wider/narrower bead board , dimensions would be more helpful?

Do you know what type of MDF the Beadboard is made from, overhere you can get MR MDF ( Moisture resistant) and also an external grade. Both of these are OK for use in bathrooms as they won't swell in the humid air but I would not be happy using standard MDF.

The MR usually has a green dye so you can tell the difference.

We can also get MDF beadboard in full 8x4 sheets

I have never heard of MR MDF here. The stuff I have found isn't green though. I will have to go a googling.

Found the MR MDF!!! We have a company called Nantucket BeadBoard and they have both the MR for bathrooms and the kind for external use as well! Even my contractor is excited. I think we're going to try some of the samples in some very humid, damp, situations next.
