Door Width Questions (Kitchen type) - Plans included!

Hi,
I'm building the wardrobe as per my plans below. I want to fit 3 equal sized kitchen type doors, one over the shelving side and 2 over the hanging side.
My question is what width should the doors be as I am unsure of the clearance needed etc.
I plan to use blum kitchen hinges.

Measure your kitchen cabinets. But I don't think you will get one for that 800 dimension. The normal inside opening dimensions would be 300-36, 400-36, 500-36, 600-36 (36=18*2 normal carcase material thickness).

Two on hanging side so 400mm each, not one 800mm.
You are unlikely to find doors tall enough, or were you planning to make from more 18mm mdf?
Kitchen carcases tend to leave about 4mm , so a 400mm wide cup'd will have 396mmm door.

You will need twin wall [18mm X 2]divider as the kitchen style hinge means the door over hangs on both sides and you only have 18mm on current plan.
If you build as is, the left hand door will have nothing to close against.

You can buy what are known a "Duel" hinges which allow for two doors to be hung from a single 18mm carcase.

If you are making the doors yourself then I would have the one on the left cover both uprights so thats internal plus 36 (twice 18) less 4mm clearance

The middle one I would use an inset blum and the right hand on standard full overlay so doors would be 800 + 18 = 818 div 2 = 409 - 4mm clearance = 405mm

If you want all 3 the same then alter the carcase internals to 380mm and 816mm this will allow 3 doors of 412mm each

Thanks for the replies all.

I didn't spot the need for a twin 18mm divider so will add that to plan and amend as I want ideally the 3 doors to be same width.

I plan to make the doors from 18mm mdf.

If you build as is, the left hand door will have nothing to close against.

If you use duel hinges for the middle door it will leave 9mm of carcase for the left door to close against, the left and right doors can hang on full overlay hinges. So he DOES need this to save having to double up the divider.

He's not using a dual hinge, he has two left hinged doors and one right.

Hello Damo,

You will require 1 door to cover the shelf unit 2382mm (h) x 419mm (w) assuming the width in the image is correctly stating 396mm as the internal measurement.

Middle door will be 2382mm (h) x 405mm (w)

Door on right will be 2382mm (h) x 414mm (w)

And you will not really need a divider as doors will close on to the top and bottom panels. However, there will be a gap of 4mm between the middle and right doors.
