I have a fairly good knowledge of plumbing but have never done any work on a boiler, I have a WB 28cdi which gives me central heating but no hot water, been advised that it is the diverter valve, is this a real bad job to do or easy, also any ideas where i would possibly get the valve from please.

anyone wanna do it

   seriously get someone in to do it, as per previous posts gotta change all seals - nothing worse than a burst o ring  after 2 hours of removing and replacing diaphragm.
then to do it all again  and then, and then thats when the 3/4 flow and return iso valves leak   ha ha boiler off wall complete embaressment

Assuming the boiler fires when you open the tap, and the flow pipe (leftmost 22mm pipe on boiler) gets pinging hot when hot tap running, then diagnosis likely correct. Your best course of action will be to book a fixed price repair with british gas, cheapest option!!!!

the boiler does not ignite when hot tap is opened get nothing at all, the central heating works fine, pleased we have a electric power shower.

In that case more likely diaphragm not full diverter. Still a pig to do so as advised above get a pro in!

Depends where it is. If the boiler is in an upstairs airing cupboard at the highest point of the system and not open vented and has the newer filling loop fitted it's a 45 min job to change the diaphragm with a draper right angled screwdriver. However if conditions aren't perfect it is a good 3 hour job. Drain it, don't touch the isolation valves and replace every washer and o ring you disturb.

I won't even tough this on these boilers.

I always recommend to my customers to get Worcester in on a fixed price repair.

Once you touch one bit on these, other bits break and leak.
