Yet another problem argh!

Hi heatingman

No not Richard Head. So are you saying that set at 3 (not sure what this relates to) it could stop the boiler losing heat? Hm that is interesting as I have already asked an RGI about this and they said they didn't think it entered into the equation. I have printed out some information from Myson about setting a Bypass valve and it all looks quite mathematical, ie assessing pump flow and head height and setting accordingly.

I am going to wait now until the new pump is fitted on Thursday. The guy who fits it should surely do some calculation with regard to settings for pump and bypass?

Just as an experiment set the by-pass on 1, if there is any sort of restriction within the system (after the by-pass) the bp valve will open due to the pump pressure and therefore maintain a flow through the boiler.

Hi,
did WB come back today and change the heat exchanger? Has it fixed it for you? Certainly hope so. What were their comments about it?

Hi - WB came back and fitted and new heat exchanger (as a matter of courtesy) - problem seems to have been solved :D - although I suppose I shouldn't speak too soon.

I am to get a new pump fitted upgrading from the present 15/50 to a 15/60 as I don't think the present one is quite sufficient for 22 radiators. I just hope that this in turn doesn't cause problems as I have H configuration pipework (goodness aren't I learning a lot). Also having an air vent fitted, although I think some of the pipework in the loft needs changing but will also ask about this.

Fingers all crossed now that there will be no further problems.

Thanks everyone for all the advice and support it was much appreciated :)
