I would like to put some trellis on the inside of my balcony for privacy and security, as the balustrade panels are made of a see-thru mesh - which are not very private.

The problem is that ready made trellis comes in set lengths, so it would require 2 panels to fit the length of the balcony. 2 x ready made trellis would overlap, which I do not want, so what is the best way of cutting to fit the 2 panels to join together and create one panel which is the exact length?

It would be far easier to have it made to measure. Does anyone know of anywhere which is not too expensive? I am in the greater London area. I've been told B&Q superstores do trellis and/or fencing to order, does anyone know about this?

I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money on anything fancy, just something simple and easy.

janee,
trellis is very easy to cut and adapt to the size you want, with just a handsaw. I assume its just the bog standard square stuff you want to put up. If it is you just cut through the trellis to get it to the size you want.
Altenativley you can get some lengths of tile batten from a builders merchant (very cheap) and make it up yourself to the exact size you want. Very simple just a hammer, nails and a hand saw and a little patience.

i would also go to a building supplier or a fencing specialist rather than b&Q to get the trellis. It might be a few pounds dearer but it will be of better quality.

You can buy these in difference height and length and easy to cut down to size. They are called willow screen.

I too have made trellis to order from 'roofing batten'. Made up a small jig to space the squares out, then borrowed an nail gun to fasten them. It is allot of work, but the resulting trellis, will out live any shed bought 'matchwood quality' trellis.
