what programme

i wnat to do a "drawing" that has "blocks" and lines what " programme" does this?

by blocks i mean for example

diamonds circles etc connected by lines.

so for the sake of argument.

is the mains light on y/n
so if the answer is yes you follow the line to the next block, this block then has say 2 more options (as does the NO answer)

so by the time you have finised reading it / following the lines you solve your problem. (if you follow what i mean)
I would search but i dont know what it would be called

i suppose it can be done in word using "auto shapes" but i wonder is there a prog that is "dedicated" to doing it

Right click flowchart symbol select <add text> to do just that.

..About connector lines
You can use three types of connector lines to connect objects:- straight, angled, and curved. When you rearrange objects that have a connecting line, the connectors remain attached to the objects and move with the objects. You can drag the adjustment handle to change the shape of the connector line.
If you move either end of a connector, that end unlocks or detaches from the object. You can then lock it to another connection site on the same object, or you can lock it to another object. To detach the entire connector from two objects, just drag its middle.
After you rearrange connected objects, some connectors might need to be rerouted to make the most direct connections and keep connectors from crossing objects.

Excel 2k has connectors, but my Word 2k does not appear to have them.

You can also use MS Word.

Switch on the drawing tool bar and all the options are at bottom of screen.

Where are the connectors in M$Word 2000 ? I do not have them, or a mention in the help, whereas both Excel and PPoint have, and help... My M$Word dwg tool bar is always on -- no connectors tho'.

They are very useful once boxes are 'connected' they can be dragged around without 'breaking' the connector lines.

In Word 2002, they are under autoshapes on the drawing toolbar.

Not sure for 2k as i am using office for XP, in this version they are all in auto shapes as has alrady been mentioned.

Deffo not the above connectors in Word 2000 9.0.6926 SP-3. On Win98SE. Can snap lines to Flowchart objects, but if object is moved the 'line' disconnects. The arrow lines do not 'attach' to the flowchart objects in the manner of the connector lines.

If you want to use a line to connect shapes and keep them connected, you may want to draw a connector instead of a normal line. A connector looks like a line, but it stays connected to the shapes you attach it to.
Do one of the following:
Draw a line
Draw a connector

Very strange, because Excel and Powerpoint do have real connectors .. Maybe people have tried flowcharting with my version of Word found it inflexible and given up, whereas PP and Excel really work well ??
