Yoy obviously didnt see the latest economic news and forcasts released just before the election yesterday afternoon, oh well good to see you enjoy your choice of Primeminister, all i can say is enjoy your dole money

heeelllooo freddy can you remember the thatcher philosiphy keep unemployment high to keep wages low drive down the employment right and condicions whilst relaxing controls on employers

So thats what you reckon they have got round the corner Bigall, could make sense with the economic forcast coveniently held back untill the day of the election and slowly leaked out.

Also i noticed a report in the paper that the Conservatives actually had more people vote for them than Labour did, ah well thank god i dont live in such a corrupt country anymore, i live in one full of terrorists and criminals, but at least they can elect a goverment on the basis of the one with the most votes wins and not the wierd way its done there.

Why do we labour supporters have to mouth off

You tell me! You're the one who wrote a big spiel all about it. Great, your bloke won. Well done. D'ya want a cookie or something?

Anyway, I suppose at the end of the day, we have a Tory as PM, and that's all that matters :p
the comment was in regard to your sore losers comment, so in jest i replied that we are too busy to comment about sour grapes or anything as we are too busy celebrating and why would we want to be so cruel as to rub their noses in the glorius glorius third term victory fragrance that is permeating around the country at this moment in time? Did i mention the historic third term in office? :D

well not exactly the point i was making freddy i was saying the torries need unemployment to keep workers under control keep wages and condicions of employment in the employers favour keep the workers in there place   unable to get a fair wage for a good days work

Would that be the same thing as Labour letting in endless streams of foreigners for the same reason and also giving them freebie health care and houses off our taxes then?

Would it also be the reason a labour Gov got derogations on certain aspects of the EU social chapter, mainly involving some of us working longer hours?

Come on chaps half a brain told us Labour would win, the manner of the win is the important thing .. The message, I believe, is clear and Labour would do well to remember it... Tony fouled up, people do, Prime Ministers should not do so, and will be savaged when they do ... goes with the territory, every smirk at the opposition at PM QTime will be paid for - later.
The electorate have teetered toward the edge .. maybe proclaiming to New Labour "Get your act together, if you have one. A similar loss of seats, at the next election and you are out ".. Can a party get beyond a 3rd term with the same PM ? It would appear not... Writing is on the wall they better start reading that other than the un-elected sycophant's scrawl.
Mike H was not really the man to take the Tories back to the high ground, but give him dues for stepping into the breech where notable others have feared to tread... Anyway, NL have grabbed the Tory left of centre ground .. it will take some retrieving ... Tis good, it will provoke new thinking, new blood ....... Twill all end up with more of the same tho', whatever and whoever !
 ;)

Imagine my disappointment after opening the topic titled 'See-Through'... :D

Are you lot still talking politics!

The trouble with PR is who is going to bring it in? labour would have done much worse and probably the tories would have done about the same. The liberals would have done much better, and we would have quite a selection of miscellaneous.

Now, labour would have been worse and the best the tories could have hoped for would have been a coalition government. We the people might actually have been represented in parliament, but which party cares about that? Neith of the two winners.

A good first step would be to reform the house of Lords to be truly proportionately elected. it has limited powers so the commons could still override it. But it would represent what we really voted for.

Next introduce single transferrable vote for each commons constituency. Then everyone's vote would count as the candidates with the lowest votes are eliminated first and their votes transferred to the remainder.

Interesting question is whether it is possible to have one single party any more which represents a real majority of the population. Perhaps it is not.

Is it worth me going back through all the posts before the election and copying down all the quotes along the lines of when labour are ousted in the election and when the tories win ? No can't be bothered but what short memories people have.

Who posted them? I don't remember reading them. None that were intended seriously rather than argumentatively anyway. This election was about margin not about who. Blair was still trying for a third landslide.

We jested to allow your inevitable moment ... I never thought a loss was on the cards .. reduced majority without doubt. ;)
