Hi
Wife set on an IKEA kitchen. Looking at the specs. I can see they offer cover panels for the end of the cabinets, (I don't think the cabinets are colour matched).
They give WxH but not the thickness!
It's a bit of a squeeze to get the cabinets in in places, if they are 18mm thick an extra 36mm makes the difference between getting a 600 or a 500 cabinet in.
Anyone any experience of an IKEA kitchen and how thick these cover panels are?
Thanks
G.

If you are running units from wall to wall then you don't need end panels, they are for exposed ends of a cabinet run. :?:

Hi
I have exposed ends but they butt up to the architrave between the doors.
I could still fit but I think the look of the side panel overhanging the archi would look a bit odd.
I think what I will probably end up doing is using the side panel of the cabinet as a template for drill holes etc and make up a colour matched end panel using the cover panel - if they are 18 mm.
That's why I'm trying to find out the thickness of them.
Thanks.

aren't they swapable with the non-coloured panel?
the IT ones from B&Q are, they're drilled the same as the white ones so you just fit the coloured ones instead..

Hi Coljack
Good point never thought of that never knew it existed. Makes more sense to swap the side panel.
Reading through the catalogue now it seems to make sense "Cover panels can be fixed to the end of frames to match your kitchen doors and drawers."
Fixed to end of frames - not added to width of cabinet- hopefully.
IKEA not bad but a bit like Argos - buy a lot on trust can't really see the detail beforehand.
I'll ask at the store B4 I buy.

The cabinet is the frame. Trim panels are usually fixed to the side of them, flush with the door.

Hi
How does that work out with lining up the edge of the door?
That will make the side of the cabinet at the end 18mm+14mm = 32mm with 14mm overhanging the edge of the door surely?
I'm sure the Swedes will have thought it out but can't see it myself seems a bit of a bodge just sticking another panel on.

That's only the clad on end panels. I think the ones with the holes drilled in them are colour matched end panels. ;) ;) ;)

Explained brilliant - thanks for the pics.
Different - but doesn't look too bad in the photo when they overhang the door like that.
Thanks
