Pva'd a scratch coat to slow down drying time ? Im having to do a gable end on my own and it was scratched last week and this morning i came to start it supposedly with another spread  anyway wet down the walls and start putting it on but i am only comfortably able to do a 2m square at a time before im having to drop back and float it up,the main problem is its a south facing wall and windy which both help to send it off so i was just looking for more ideas really as its bloody hard work or am i getting too old

No, I usually hose down if the scratch coat is sucking, keep the hose running and keep wetting ahead and finish as you go. A good hosing the night before , first thing in morning and as you are working on it should do it. Keep the joint fresh and finish as you go.

Or give it a coat and scratch it then go straight back on it(if you have room)

In theory you could SBR it (not PVA) and float the next day - your scratch will still be enough of a key - but I have never done this.

Stable doors and all that but waterproofer in summer does the job in the scratch coat.

Yes i suppose i will just have to keep wetting it ,i have waterproofer in the scratch coat its just the sun and wind i think drying it out ,just wasnt sure if there was anything else i might have forgotten

youve pva.d , w/p and wet down ,that top coat should be running down the wall m8!!.are you getting enough on, 8 to 10 mm should give you time to work, bung some pva in the mix,up to 5ltr per 50kg of cement(no other chemicals!)the beauty of that is you can use lime,or use a retarder,if that dont work you are to old!
