Hello
I have been having problems with my 1999 Golf. It is fine on start up from cold but once i have been driving it if i turn it off for 10 mins it wont start again. It turns over and everything but will not start.
It has been happening for a couple of months but everytime i take it to a garage there is nothing wrong with it and nothing comes up on the diagnostic thing.
Sometimes it starts after a while and then the revs keep going up when i push the excelerator and then take my foot off again. I have to turn the ignition off to stop it red lining and try again.
Please help as i dont know what to do with it!!!
Thanks in advance
Haylea

Is that not the diagnostic thing you plug in? If so i have done that and nothing came up.
Thanks

These sort of problems are very difficult to cure indeed, and usually end up by people throwing new items at the vehicle to no avail.
Somehow you need to find a garage that has the necessary expertise to help with this one.....
Check out motorwise.net There is a guy there called Ken who is an absolute genius - if he is still there! I think he has an Italian sounding surname, but I can't remember it!
Be lucky!

coolant temp sensor first, then if that doesnt fix it you'll be looking at a dirty throttle body
