Hello all,

I'm renovating my utility room and i'm swapping the door opening from one side of the room to the other. This means i'll need to brick up the gap left by the old door.

I'm no bricklayer and i'm wondering how I can connect the DPC across the two sides of the doorway?

I'm assuming just laying one inbetween won't be good enough and they will need to be connected somehow.

Any ideas/advice??

Not necessarily no.

In an ideal (belt and braces) world yes. But laying an individual strip of dpc across the intended brickwork/block-work line will be enough.

OK let me explain.

It' not like you are sealing an escape hatch on a submarine.

There is no threat from flowing water. All you are protecting from is the potential for moisture to rise from the masonry.

Lay the dpc and forget about it. No need for sealant.
