Just been reading my local rag that another 2 yr old toddler has died after being found in a pool at his house. :(

Why aren't "parents to be"
asked if they have a pool in their garden and warned of the dangers to toddlers?

I can remember literally fighting with my (then) 2yr old to keep him away from the lake in the park when I took him. A pool or water is like a magnet to toddlers and they really can't help themselves and have to play with it.

I think the ROSPA should run a campaign of awareness and am going to suggest it to them. :(

Poor family. :(

I think any normal person knows what kids and water mean.not having a dig, but do people not realise, time after time, it's on t.v. radio, papers, etc, do they live on mars?.

Iv'e a 20ftx20ft pond and brought up children and grandchildren at the moment, and many friends with children, drinking, smoking, partying in the night, and never had so much as a near miss. Your child, your responsability

You've been lucky then but you should consider your grandkids safety and get it filled in until they are older.

Can't be too careful thats my motto.

I have a pond and a small child. My way to protect my son and any small child who comes round, is that I have fitted a 'road mesh' on top of the pond. I have decking all the way around, so it was easy to fit. It can even take my weight. (I'm not light)

Safety first, especially for the little people!!!

I have a pond, and feel uneasy when attending it alone, as many years ago,as a toddler, I had a toy yacht, and as it drifted away from me, I reached out for it, and fell into the pond, but my legs were on the side, but my head underwater, so I was drowning. I couldn't rescue myself. Panic set in. So I froze. I was dragged from the water by my father.

Whatever happened to public information films?

Perhaps they need to make a new one along the lines of ''Charlie says - FFS, keep me away from crazy, fat, middle-aged women and wheelie bins!!!!!''.

They still have public information films, just that they are rubbish now. A motorbike with warnings before the event, and a street, showing a car running over someone in slow motion?

Nah - bring back Charlie says....he even got onto a rave record didn't he?

Don't take sweets from strangers - nah kids today steal your mobile phone
Don't cross the road without looking - nah kids today would rather carjack you.
Don't play with matches - nah kids prefer to sniff petrol fumes, or burn their schools down.

;)

Having just seen that child's picture makes me realise what iv'e said, and hurts even more. but your responsible

.you can,t fill the sea in,but you take care with them when your there.

Its not always practical to keep your eyes on kids 24/7 as some poor parents have found out to their cost having found their child drowned. :(

My way ( fill in the pools or get shut altogether) is Failsafe.

BTW I looked on the ROSPA site yesterday to see if I could make some suggestions and it turns out that you have to subscribe (around £100) to become a member.

I always thought it was a charity.
