Hi chaps,

For my thickened raft, under the slab I need to put some Hoggin.

Q. If I was to Blind the Hoggin with sand, what type of sand and what exactly do I have to do?

Q I can work out the volume of Hoggin that I require, but the delivery is in weight. Any ideas what the equation rate is?
Somebody suggested 2Tonne = 1M3?

Cheers,

James.

The sub-base, or hard core layer, or granular infill (call it what you like) needs to be compacted.

Once this is done you then need to cover it with a soft sand (usually building sand) to a depth that will deal with and prevent any of the granular material puncturing the dpm.

This blinding layer needs to be compacted too, then you are ready to fit the dpm.

Presumably you would blind it with soft sand - eg. cover it with sand.

1 cubic meter = 1.6 metric tonnes, so 2 tonnes would be 1.25 m3.

Cheers for the replies guys.

I have an old victorian hand roller - probably about 60-70kg, could I blind with that or do I need to hire in a plate compactor.

Cheers

James.
