drain pipe for new dishwasher - what length can it be?

Hi,

I'm looking at installing a dishwasher into our kitchen. However, the only place I can fit it is a fair way from the sink. I'm thinking of fitting a waste pipe round the back of the cabinets to the sink and just putting a T piece in above the trap to connect it into. Does this sound like it will be OK?

It would be a 3 metre run of pipe from where the drain hose would connect in to it, to where it will connect into the existing waste. I'm a bit conerned about that this is a long run, and can't seem to find any info on if this has been done before or whether it would be a problem.

As long as the run is at an angle, it should be fine - the waste part should be higher than the end into the 'T'. I've dont this in my house - had no floods or leaks..

Be sure not to run it at to much of a fall, otherwise you could have some problems with siphonage

I'm probably looking at a drop of 10-15cm along a total of 3meters of pipe. Does that sound like it will be ok?

Yeah that should be ok, Obviously the total fall is set for how far apart the apliances are, But as long as there not a reallly fast flow is shoulb be fine.
Just check it isnt pulling the seal from the sink waste.

But yeah, All sounds good to me =]

cheers. I'll definately be keeping a close eye on it when it's all in.

Now to try and work out how to fit it behind all the existing cupboards...
