I'm boarding out my mum's loft, it's the first job in a long list as she's renovating the whole house. Before I start I'd like to suss out what to do with the bedroom ceilings.
The bedroom ceilings are plasterboard but there's cracks on virtually every single joint (they're wallpapered as well). The loft joists are 4" deep and are spaced at 400mm centres. There's a lot of movement where boards meet and there's no noggins behind them to prevent movement.
So my options....
- Strip wallpaper on ceiling, fix a noggin behind every plasterboard join, secure with screws, then tape then cracks before skimming.
or
- Overboard the ceiling
Which would you say is the best option?, and when overboarding, should I use 9.5 and 12mm pb?
cheers
