It seems google maps have a route for even the most 'challenging' of 'road trips'. Please note the bold writing.
How they can be so accurate with the time it takes is beyond me.

it's bound to send you off a cliff or into a lake anyway.
 
So....... why would you go via Hawaii? Obviously miles and miles out of the way. Much easier to go across the Rockies to North West America then kayak straight to Japan.
