I've worked out a way to stop lazy people getting £50k per year to live in a posh London suburb.

It's simple. No need for a cap.

Just do this:

If someone is claiming more in benefit than they could earn on the minimum wage - the Government should offer them a job on minimum wage. A guaranteed job.

If they refuse the job - they are no longer entitled to benefit.

If they accept the job at minimum wage - then they'll have to go and rent in an area they can afford like everyone else has to.

Simples.

So,,,,, someone takes a job on minimum wage. £238 p wk. After tax and NI they probably come out with just over £200 p wk.
You'd see them on the street for taking the job in the first place.
Joe , you really should become an MP (probably for the Labour Party ). ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Personally, I'd either snatch the partners boll**ks, or sterilise the woman.
No kids = less in welfare and benefits.

SORTED. ;) ;) ;) ;)

Crikey, just realised,,,, I should become an MP. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Sounds alright Joe but the Multi Millionaire Government are getting rid of a million people. Employing housing benefit scammers is gonna pee a few of those getting made redundant!

It's still cheaper to pay them minimum wage than £60 -70K in benefits.

If the minimum wage is OK for citizen A then it's good enough for citizen B.

Just supposing there were any jobs in London that paid the minimum wage, then that is what they should get.

We then cap Housing Benefit at ???? and pay it direct to the landlord. If the landlord don't like it, tough. We bring in a law that does not allow the greedy landlord to evict anyone on a minimum wage. Sorted.

The problem is that the current system ensures they will never take a job. If they do it would have to pay 70 or 80k for them to pay their way.

Do the non working population really NEED to live in London? If you think they do - enlighten us.

Lets take the majority of people who live and work in London.
Take the London Weighting off their wages and where would they be?
Come on Joe , You just ain't thought this through have you.
Let's take it a stage further. Should the minimum wage in London be any different from the rest of the country?
Shouldn't be but who could live on it there???

They can move out of London - still guaranteed a job. They can go to Wales or Scotland. Anywhere that they can afford really.

where there is much less likelihood of them finding a job .Very bright i must say

Its gonna be capped, at £450 a month!

Some say its ethnic cleansing of the poor, to rid London of them.. who knows.. some say its to stop greedy millionaire landlords from raking it in..

I see it as a way of getting a housing stock in London for the next wave of immigrants.

They are free to take any job they like - anywhere they like. They can work in London and live in London - if they can afford to. If not - they'll have to ship out. Minimum wage is good enough for all - or none. Which is it?

.

i understood it was 400 a week - so 1,800 a month........ and anyway, if your rent is 2k per month, no one is stopping you renegotiating with the landlord or making up the difference oneself.

1800 - that's twice what my mortgage is.............

thank god for a reality check, you know all these cuts and stuff going on and it's barely affecting me - maybe because i work for a living, have no kids, take nothing from the state over the bare essentials (occassional use of police, see my gp maybe once a year etc)

I think shanty cities would be a good idea. Not looking for a job and happy on benefits? then why do you need to be near the rest of the hard working population. Schooling; we'll set up some shacks that can be vandalised and attended only if Sky shuts down. Drug dealers can be set up in place of libraries, free buggies to the over 14s, kebabs and special brew always on special at the local Costcutter, etc.

Anyone unhappy with their conditions can always complain to their 'local' MP, 5 miles walk away - that is, if they can get their fat lazy arses out of bed before the office shuts at midday ;)

Any comments :) :) :) ;)

There is a gaping flaw here, your plan requires a surplus of unfilled vacancies? Where are they going to get these from then?

Make up positions in the public sector just to get bums on seats (no pun intended!)

Think that's been tried by Nu-Lab.

Better get your thinking cap back on...
