I've never used a roller for gloss before.

In a High Street DIY place they had three different mini-rollers:

1) foam - I've read these are not very good and leave bubbles

2) towel-like fabric, said to be for emulsion

3) towel-like fabric, different colour to 2), said to be for gloss.

I've already got several mini-rollers like 2), can I use these for gloss or do I need to buy 3)?

Are rollers worth using, better than brushing?

Thanks

Use a foam one to apply then lay off with a good brush. When finished ditch the roller.

What does "lay off" mean please?

I saw a professional decorator using a gloss roller recently - it looked like a shorter version of an emulsion roller.

It just mean let your brush gently pass over the rollered stuff - it takes the bubbles out. Just one pass then leave it.
