Because arguments can 'spill' out of this site when you have idiotic members.

A sure fire way to get other contributors to look at your profile, is to ask this sort of question, amongst the profile are pictures of construction works, can this be an attempt to spread the word, and drum up custom?

@ wotan I'm in full time employment FYI although still do PJ's and have had the grand total of one job through posting on here. I'm not sure you could describe it as a practical means of getting work.
As mentioned I'm just curious, I sometimes check out a members profile to find one of their previous posts for example or am having a nose, what's wrong with that? What have people to hide? Just seems a bit odd tis all.

I've got no pictures of works on my profile but there is my web address on there. Probably had about 3 jobs off the forum since I joined.

I remember one of those. The OP came back and said you'd done a very tidy job and he was well happy.
It's a vanity thing, same as double barrel surnames and private number plates.
Some people take themselves far too seriously and have an over inflated opinion of their own self importance.
I'm just off for an ego massage mesel....
it also stops what we had the other day of scammers grabbing your e-mail etc and sending you sob story / you've won the lottery type e-mails...

Why not? Why have it open? What difference does the status of someone's profile make to you or anyone else here?
I am simply interested to know, I cannot work out why you would wish to hide your profile unless you have something to hide, for the third time I am just curious. Maybe someone who is 'private' would like to offer their reasoning.

My profile is private. It is private because I use the data allowance to store some pictures of my family etc and I link to them to people I want to have access to them. An open profile is just that... OPEN to the WHOLE of the internet. ANYONE, member or not, can view an open profile and anything stored on it. Now I don't know about anyone else here but I ain't letting just ANYONE view MY stuff. There is NOTHING to stop your personal family photos being copied and used for whatever reason. There are plenty of decent people on here, there are some that aren't. There are possibly thousands of people on the internet that I wouldn't leave my lunch with let alone pictures of my family.
