Hello,

I have a small number of storage rooms. The rooms are divided by stud partition, lined with plasterboard. The screw heads have been filled and sanded but the joints have not.

Is there a tape that I can use to cover the joints so that I can paint over the joints without them showing too much? I imagine something like masking tape but that you can paint on.

I don't want to fill the joints as a perfectly smooth finish is not required. I just want to cover the gap prior to painting.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks
Joe

Is there no such product? If I'm looking for something that doesn't exist, could someone put me out of my misery. Thanks.

If you used tapered plaster board then it would be normal to fill the screw heads. Then you would tape the joints to give them strength and flexibility. and put one or two coats of joint filler over the joints then and sand as required.

If you have not used tapered plaster board its not going to look great but maybe if you buy the joint filler from a diy store. this would be better than nothing. You will probably get some cracks over time though..

There is a kind of tape that is routinely used for putting over the joins of plasterboard before it is painted. The edges are tapered. I cannot remember the generic name, but any good DIY place should be able to tell you.
