If it were possible to fold standard piece of copier paper in half 50 times it would end up over 70 million miles thick !

I'll get me coat

Another one for you then, if you go back 40 generations (about 1000 years) the total number of ancestors in theory you would have is 550,000,000,000 ....far more than the total number of humans that have ever existed by a long way...so we are all very interbred.

Me and my father sat our last ACS at the same time and we were asked (as were the whole class) "what is a megajoule?", only for him to confidently boast..."the mother of all joules". Yes, the room did go quiet.

Try folding any sized paper in half, then half again, etc...

Where did you get this from? It's wrong anyway.

Assume copier paper is 1mm thick. Fold it once, it's now 2mm thick. Fold another 49 times and it's doubling its thickness each time = 2 to the power of 49 = 33,554,432mm
Divide by 100 = 335,544.32 metres
Divide by 1000 = 335.54432 kilometers

2 to the 49th power would be 562,949,953,421,312 Divided by 1000 = 562,949,953,421.3 m Divided again by 1000 = 562,949,953.4 km

Convert to miles = 905,981,868.1 m

All of course based on paper 1mm thick. Assuming paper was 1/10th of a mm thick this would still be over 90 million miles thick. ;) ;) ;)

EDIT,, beat me to it Mike. ;) ;) ;) ;)

personally i make it

375,299,968.9 mile
assuming 0.1 mm thick, and 1500 meters to a mile.

The ability of people that wish to serve on committees is inversely proportional to their ability to do so. :!:
It's a little known fact, but true
