Hello all,

I have a baxi combi 80e and i really need your help to fix it, the problem is when i turn the water on or the heating the boiler fires up but only stays lit for a short time and then switches off and then switches back on and so on, so the water is only getting warm and then goes cold and the same with the radiators, i have also noticed that the pressure is going down although i cannot find any signs of a leak, i was wandering if this would cause the boiler to act in this way and if not have you got any ideas what it could be.

I really appreciate your help.

Graham

Doubt it's the plate heat ex as it happens on heating too.

the symptoms suggest you need an rgi to sort this. Sorry

thanks powell,
I have just spoken to the plumbers merchants and they said they do not think it is the heat exchanger they said it sounds more like a sensor.

Thanks Gaz,
i have got a plumber calling on Saturday so hopefully he can pinpoint the problem.

plumber not coming till Thursday now so can someone please answer some questions i have.

1 The pressure on the boiler is going down but i cannot find any signs of a leak anywhere, any ideas.

2 One radiator in the house is cold, i have bled it but still the same but i have noticed that both pipes going into it are cold any ideas what could cause this.

3 The pressure goes up a lot when the boiler is on, now the main thread was about not getting any hot water or heating but i have got it to stay on a couple of times but the pressure goes up from say 1 to 2.5 when it does is this normal.

Now could any of the answers from these problems cause the heating and water to be luke warm and keep cutting the boiler off after a few seconds.

Thanks for any help.

Graham.

1 and 3 are related. this sounds as though your expansion vessel has gone. (does the copper pipe outside show signs of passing water?)

2, close down the radiator nearest to cold one and see if heat comes, also read faq's on balancing.

I would hazzard a guess you have a dirty system so thermistors/NTCs are giving false readings.
