Why the Question?? It's obvious he died while in hostile war and they want to make sure. blimey

sorry deluks, what bothers you about it?, if (not) it was your son, youd'e be able to tell us everything about it , wouldn't you.

Your very suprising at times.

He was fighting an illegal war, and didn't get the training that he required, as he died doing his illegal job, that he wasn't trained efficiently to do. By an inefficient government. So he is blood on the governments hands. That nobody voted in.

He's blood on the hands of the government nobody voted in.. after he died?

If I was employed to work radio, and it blew up in my face, not a hero, as I wasn't trained to use it correctly. If My job was to diffuse mines, and it blew my face off, then insufficient training. That means that you were insufficent in your job, the government trained you, either they didn't train you enough, or you were rubbish at your job. He is fighting an illegal war, so government training is lacking...so Government failings. On both accounts.

Way to either totally miss my point or intentionally ignore it because it makes you look stupid.

This was your only post; and I don't think you made a point? or otherwise you are agreeing with me? So are you arguing with yourself?

I'll spell it out for you, as you obviously can't see it.

Olaf Schmid died in November 2009. The Coalition government came to power in May 2010. His blood is not on the hands of 'the government nobody voted in', because it didn't exist during his training, service, or death.

If he'd been an army chef defusing a bomb, I would understand the need for an inquest.

What are likely to be the findings of this?

The bomb in question had been designed to kill and thus deprived the soldier of his right to life?

The bomb hadn't been wired up in accordance with the jihadists training manual (17th edition) and that they will seek to prosecute the manufacturer?

They will probably call it an unlawful killing (as opposed to what???)

Maybe they will impose new H&S laws on the MOD:
Under no circumstances are bomb disposal experts allowed to go near bombs, in case they go bang.

The one thing they won't say is the truth. That his luck ran out, simple as.

He probably had the best training possible...he was just very unfortunate. If it was possible to disarm every bomb out there, they wouldnt even bother planting them in the first place!

Deluks.

Unless the law has changed over the past few years then an Inquest will ALWAYS be held after the death of a British Citizen when the circumstances exist where a Doctor is unable to issue a death certificate due to the cause being unknown or the deceased has not been under the care of that Doctor for 14 days prior to death.

Therefore most, if not all, deaths in a war theatre will result in an inquest.

The coroner will have to decided whether to hold a full jury inquest or one where the Coroner himself determines cause of death.

Also bear in mind that a Coroners Court is the Highest Court in Great Britain. A demand for an appearance there always overrides any other court summons.

OK - from a political party with an unelected leader, that is fighting an illegal war. Mebad.

The only reason this received National publicity is because he received a posthumous gallantry medal and that he was part of EOD with an impressive record.

An infantry foot soldier killed in a landmine explosion is all too common nowadays and attracts little or no National comment. Sad, but true.
